In light of the on going situation and impact of COVID-19, we wanted to ensure you all that we are being proactive in our approach to ensure business continuity whilst also ensuring the health and safety of our clients, barristers, staff, family and friends.

In line with recent Government guidelines all Family Clerks at Dere Street Barristers are now working remotely. Whilst it is hoped this will cause minimal disruption to our service, we would appreciate if you could do the following to assist us in ensuring we provide you with the best possible service to you.

We now have a partially automated telephone system in place whereby you need only call 01912320541/01904620048 and Option 1. This will automatically transfer you to any family clerk who is available.

To enable this system to work effectively, and ensure all calls are handled efficiently, we would ask that you do not contact family clerks directly on their mobile phones.

Unless responding directly to an email from a specific family clerk we would ask that any emails be sent to This email address is shared by all family clerks and therefore will be dealt with at the first available opportunity.

If, within your email you could provide your contact details (direct dial or mobile phone number) that would assist enormously.

Should you feel the content of your email is not suitable for all family clerks then please send your email to

Whilst provision has been put in place to ensure hard copy communication can be processed, this will not necessarily be on the date of delivery to Chambers. We therefore ask that, unless impossible, you provide electronic copies. If any documents could be emailed to the instructed barrister directly [email address available via website] and copied in to this will ensure documents are handled in the most efficient and effective manner.

Thank you for your understanding about this. Should you have any queries or concerns regarding these measures, please contact me directly via either my email or mobile telephone number.

Many thanks,

Neil Gibson
Senior Family Clerk.
