Dere Street Barristers has one of the largest family law team on the North Eastern Circuit.  Our members, consisting of over 50 juniors and 7 silks (including door tenants), provide advocacy and advice over the full range of family law disciplines and at every level of court.  The team has a broad range of expertise and experience with  a number of practitioners appointed as Recorders, Deputy District Judges and Assistant Coroners.

The team appreciates the need to remain at the forefront of family law. They pride themselves on their own continued professional development and regularly provide CPD accredited lectures, seminars and in-house training to solicitors, local authorities and social workers.

Dere Street Barristers’ Family Group acknowledges the need to ensure those instructing receive the best possible service and support and have therefore, over a period of time, established a dedicated clerking team.

The group recognise the need to provide solicitors, local authorities and individuals with choices, as not every requirement is the same. Hence, the group offers a broad range of expertise and experience.

Neil Gibson, Senior Family Clerk heads up the clerking team and is supported by three other family clerks. The clerking team bring with them over 30 years of administrative family court experience and 18 years family clerking experience.
