synopsis
After a career in education Ross joined York Chambers in 1987. His practice now mainly consists of family work with an element of civil work and specialisms in education law and mediation.
He is highly experienced in all aspects of family work, e.g. public and private law (including ancillary relief, Inheritance Act claims and cases involving trusts of land). He is also interested in cases involving a foreign element. He has given well-received presentations to firms of solicitors on various aspects of family law. He is a member of FLBA (Family Law Bar Association).
Ross has a special interest in cases concerning boundaries and easements. His civil practice includes landlord and tenant/housing cases and personal injury. He specialises in cases concerning personal injury on educational premises and cases of educational professional negligence.
He has given a presentation on the topic of personal injury in schools to a high profile national firm of solicitors.
Ross has appeared in cases concerning exclusion, admissions and special educational needs in the various statutory tribunals, as well as county courts and the Court of Appeal. He is a member of ELAS (Educational Law Association).
Ross is an experienced mediator. He has appeared both as a mediator and as a representive of parties. He has been involved in a wide range of mediations and has taken part in mediation presentations, including presentations to the judiciary. He is a member of ANM (Association of Northern Mediators).
One notable mediation case about contract/bailment involved a 6 figure claim concerning provision by an Italian dealer of fine art antiques/furniture to furnish a large London town house for sale.
