Following call to the Bar, worked as a law lecturer until 1980 (University College Buckland teaching on the London LLB External Course and then at Buckingham University) before entering pupillage at 17 Old Buildings and 9 Old Square Lincoln’s Inn. Joined 51 Westgate Road Chambers (later Broad Chare Chambers) in Newcastle in 1981.
Robin specialises in chancery work, land law, landlord and tenant, planning and insolvency. Also provides advice and representation in the areas of taxation, sale of goods and defamation.

- Durham County Council v. Scott (1990) CLY 4554 : How far a gate placed across a public bridleway constitutes an unlawful obstruction notwithstanding the fact that it is easy to open and close.
- Northern Electric v. Addison (1997) 2 EGLR 111 : The weight to be attached to a restricted user clause in assessing a new rent under Part II of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
- Jobson v. Record (1998) 1 EGLR 113 : How far can a right of way be utilised so as to accommodate land which lies outside the dominant tenement.
