synopsis
Kerry graduated from Keele University with a first-class degree in Law (with Criminology) in 2005. She commenced Pupillage with Chambers in September 2010 after graduating from BPP Law School in 2009.
Kerry has full working knowledge of the intermediaries’ legislation (IR35) and after University headed up the compliance department of an Umbrella Specialist before enjoying a successful career as a Senior Prosecutor in the Magistrates Courts for G4S.
Kerry accepts instructions in Civil, Family and Criminal law matters.
Family law
To date Kerry has gained a wide range of experience in public law and private law cases and has frequently had conduct of contested one day and multi-day matters in both the County Court and Family Proceedings Court.
Kerry’s public law practice has included representation of Local Authorities and Guardians as well as representation of parents and interveners and other family members of children involved with social services.
Kerry receives frequent instructions in a variety of private law matters including contested contact and residence applications and injunctive relief proceedings (non-molestation, occupation and specific issue).
Kerry has also represented clients in ancillary relief proceedings and accepts legally-aided ancillary relief briefs.
Criminal law
Kerry frequently appears for both the prosecution and the defence in Magistrates Courts. She is regularly instructed by the CPS and other prosecuting agencies including the Probation Service, HMRC and the Youth Offending Service.
Kerry is also regularly instructed to appear for the Probation Service and Youth Offending Service in the Crown Court and has appeared for the defence at sentencing hearings and in order to make bail applications.
Civil law
Kerry has a growing civil practice encompassing personal injury, road traffic, credit hire and contract work. She regularly appears in the county court representing both Claimants and Defendants.
Kerry’s experience extends to small claims, providing written advice on both liability and quantum and appearing in committal hearings in the county court. She has also been instructed to appear for family members at several inquests.
She is willing to consider instructions on a CFA basis and has an interest in employment law.
