synopsis

Kate joined Chambers after successfully completing pupillage in September 2010.

Since then, Kate has developed a common law practice, providing advice and advocacy across Employment, Family, Criminal and Civil jurisdictions.

Kate acts for both Claimants and Respondents across the North East and throughout the country. She has experience in a range of areas including unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, TUPE and unlawful deductions from wages.

Civil

Kate undertakes a variety of civil litigation for both Claimants and Defendants, including personal injury, road traffic cases, occupier’s liability, employer’s liability and landlord and tenant proceedings. She provides written advice and pleadings as well as attending court, and has represented local authorities at public inquiries.

Family

Kate has experience in conducting public and private Children Act matters, as well as domestic violence cases and injunctions, in both the Family Proceedings Court and the County Court. She recently provided a presentation to local social workers on the Revised Public Law Outline and its impact on care proceedings.

Crime

Kate has appeared in Magistrates, Youth and Crown Courts across the region. Kate has experience defending and prosecuting for the CPS, Probation Service, and HM Revenue and Customs, as well as representing prisoners before the Parole Board. Kate also accepts instructions in licensing, regulatory and prison law matters.
