courts martial

Dere Street Chambers are committed to providing a first-class service in all aspects of Courts Martial work. The team encompasses a wide range of expertise and experience for dealing with military Courts Martial cases at all levels. Team members are happy to travel to any of the Military Court Centres in the UK (including Northern Ireland) and abroad.

Quick advice for members of the armed forces

We are keenly aware of the difficulties faced by members of the armed services in securing quick advice. We have available all of the latest technologies to ensure that, where face-to-face conferencing is impossible, consultation can take place using video conferencing.

Expert knowledge of Courts Martial law

The team have represented members of the armed forces from all divisions and at all ranks on matters covering the spectrum of offences. This experience has helped us develop an insight into the particular sensitivities and anxieties faced by service personnel appearing in military courts. Coupled with expert knowledge of the law and the rules for Courts Martial, and outstanding advocacy, Dere Street Chambers’ Courts Martial team offers a peerless service.

Our fees are covered by the Armed Forces Criminal Aid Scheme

Because our fees are covered by AFCLAS, service personnel facing allegations before Courts Martial are not expected to pay personally for their representation. In some cases AFCLAS will allocate a barrister; you may choose who represents you.
