With 35 civil law barristers practising within our Civil Team, Dere Street offers you an exceptional advisory and advocacy service at all levels of experience.
Clients are afforded expertise in UK civil law coupled, where necessary, with robust and forceful advocacy. Our breadth of experience with civil law cases, along with modern premises in Newcastle upon Tyne and York, enables us to provide an efficient and effective nationwide service to Claimants and Defendants alike. Work is undertaken pursuant to all funding arrangements, and many Counsel are able to receive instructions via Direct Access where appropriate.
Sensitivity to the commercial demands on civil law clients
While drafting and advisory work is undertaken to an exacting standard, our Civil Team is sensitive to the commercial demands placed upon clients; paperwork is routinely completed and returned within 14 days of receipt, though frequently this work can be expedited where circumstances demand.
Full accreditation to the Law Society
Many practitioners of civil law hold part time Judicial positions and / or are members of the Treasury Solicitors Panel; all participate in ongoing training sessions qualifying for Continuing Professional Development points for both professions.
Dere Street Chambers is fully accredited by both the Law Society and the Bar Council to provide lectures and the Civil Team is able to undertake bespoke training for clients as and when required.
We are realistic about fees and sensitive to the commercial pressures facing clients. Our fee structure is transparent, predictable and proportionate. Work is undertaken pursuant to all funding arrangements.
